John Piper & The Christ We Need

Below is a short video I found the other day of one of my favorite pastors of all time, John Piper. What an awesome message he preaches. I hope it encourages you half as much as it encourages me.

John Piper and his ministry mean so much to Ebe and me. Though I have never personally met him, I consider him a great mentor of mine. His fervent love for the supremacy of Christ is contagious and his understanding of and ability to effectively communicate the apostolic Gospel is Puritan-like (that is a very high praise in my opinion). In our Post-Modern, Post-Christian culture It seems like most of what is taught from the pulpit is at worst outright heresy (oftentimes well-meaning) and at best shallow and weak life-coaching (because no one wants to piss anyone off). Thank you, John, from the bottom of my heart for not caring what people think of you, but by the Holy Spirit within you, truly caring for people by telling them (and me) the realities of Gospel truth! I love you John Piper.

Before this post starts to sound like Piper worship, let me direct you to the Christ you and I need...the Christ of the Gospel...not the Christ of the American Dream, the Christ from the North Pole, or Christ the Reactionary (believing that He reacts to our decisions or circumstances):
